Access to Hormone Therapy

Some transgender people will access hormone therapy as a part of primary medical care. With hormone therapy, you can expect physical changes to your body to support you. There are different kinds of medication, different doses, and different ways to take this treatment.

Your medical provider (e.g. a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant) will work with you to understand your goals and needs before prescribing medication. We follow an informed consent model for gender affirming hormone therapy with people ages 18+. If someone is working with us who is under the age of 18, we will require a mental health assessment as well as parental or guardian consent.
