britt walsh is the Director of Gender Affirming Care at Whitman-Walker Health. They first encountered Whitman-Walker as an AmeriCorps member with its Gay Men’s Health and Wellness Clinic in 2008. They returned to the organization in 2013 with training as a community practice, clinical social worker to lead Whitman-Walker’s Retention and Engagement team in assisting people living with HIV. In that work, they connected with early gender-affirming surgery referrals and now oversee services as our Director of Gender Affirming Care. In this role, britt leads a team of Trans Care Navigators in supporting medical patients of Whitman-Walker Health to access gender-affirming surgery. As such, he works across disciplines with every department to ensure staff have the training and support necessary to practice inclusive, informed, and quality patient-centered care to the highest standards. britt brings lived experience to his work as a Navigator and therapist and as a trainer, working with local and national groups across the country.
