britt walsh is the Director of Specialty Care at Whitman-Walker Health. They first encountered Whitman-Walker as an AmeriCorps member with its Gay Men’s Health and Wellness Clinic in 2008. They returned to the organization in 2013 with training as a community practice, clinical social worker to lead Whitman-Walker’s Retention and Engagement team in assisting people living with HIV. In that work, they connected with early specialty surgery referrals and now oversees those services as our Director of Specialty Care. In this role, britt leads a team of Specialty Care Navigators in supporting medical patients of Whitman-Walker Health to access whole-person care from outside specialists with training and skills in procedures or surgeries. As such, he works across disciplines with every department to ensure staff have the education and support necessary to practice inclusive, comprehensive, high-quality, patient-centered care to the highest standards. britt brings lived experience to his work as a Navigator and therapist and as a trainer, working with local and national groups across the country.
