Patrick Hughes

Patrick Hughes has served as the Director of Dental Services for Whitman-Walker Health since 2003. He joined the health center as a part-time staff dentist in March 2002. A native of Pennsylvania, he attended both Penn State University and The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he received his D.M.D. degree.

Hughes started his dental career in Texas as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. After completing his military commitment, he became a staff dentist and later the Dental Director of a rural, community-based health center in the Appalachian Mountains of southern West Virginia. In 2002, Hughes moved to Washington, D.C. to continue his work in community-based health care, emphasizing oral health care for the HIV and LGBT communities.
