Dear Whitman-Walker Family,
First, we want you to know that we are here for you and will provide care for the community through the COVID-19 crisis. At Whitman-Walker our first responsibility
is to keep community safe and healthy. In order to manage the spread of the coronavirus, we have set up an updated check-in system at our facilities.
is to keep community safe and healthy. In order to manage the spread of the coronavirus, we have set up an updated check-in system at our facilities.
This system will include a stop in our lobby of 1525 14th Street NW or outside the facility at Max Robinson Center to take a quick survey with our staff
and to take your temperature. This will ensure that we get you to the right place for us to treat you. Please be patient and kind to our staff. They
are here to help you.

While our doors remain open for primary care, to further the community-wide prevention efforts locally, we have decided to close some services in order
to try to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in community.
The following Whitman-Walker services will be closed from Monday, March 16th until Tuesday, March 31st:
- Whitman-Walker Youth Services at Eastern Market
- External Events and Testing with our Community Health team
- PrEP Clinic
- Walk-in HIV/STI Testing
- GMHW Sexual Health Clinic
We will continue to provide essential health care services related to HIV testing and PrEP via telephone with our medical teams and our pharmacy teams.
As a reminder, we ask that you follow these guidelines to help us keep our staff, other patients and you healthy:
- If you are sick, call us and share your symptoms BEFORE planning to visit us. It is important that you call Whitman-Walker at 202-745-7000
and share information about your symptoms before visiting any of our locations or for any types of appointments. To limit your exposure to additional
illnesses, our team will evaluate and treat you over the phone. - After your phone evaluation. If after your phone evaluation, you still need to come into a Whitman-Walker location, we will coordinate
with you to be seen as quickly as possible when you arrive for your appointment. - Visiting a Whitman-Walker location? Please let us know you have a cough and/or fever immediately. We will give you a mask to wear
and get you in a private room when you arrive if you are here for a medical appointment. Before receiving a mask, cover any coughs and sneezes
with a tissue to help prevent the spread of germs and throw all used tissues in the trash. If you are here for a non-medical appointment (including
for dental and behavioral health visits) and you have a cough and/or fever, we will work to reschedule your non-medical appointment and we will
offer you a medical appointment to see a provider for a same-day medical appointment.
The team here at Whitman-Walker is committed to ensuring the ongoing delivery of care in the safest way possible. Your support is needed during this time
and we would be grateful if would consider making a donation to help us to continue to be responsive
to the needs of our community.
