Whitman-Walker welcomes NIH and NIAID Directors for special meeting at Max Robinson Center

Whitman-Walker staff from our Health, Systems, and Institute divisions were honored and proud to host an intimate and informative meeting at our Max Robinson Center in SE Washington, DC with the esteemed Monica Bertagnolli, MD, Director, National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Jeanne Marrazzo, MD, MPH, Director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH.

The conversation centered on NIH’s priorities, under Dr. Bertagnolli’s leadership, to connect health research with community care, such as what Whitman-Walker does with the research conducted by our Institute, based on patient data from our Health clinics.

As Dr. Bertagnolli explained. “NIH research encompasses the laboratory, the clinic, and the community. But our work is not finished when we deliver scientific discoveries; our work is finished when all people are living long and healthy lives.”

Other guests included:

  • John Burklow, Chief of Staff, NIH
  • Manya Magnus, PhD, MPH, Professor of Epidemiology, and Chair of Epidemiology department at George Washington University.

The morning featured:

  • Whitman-Walker Opening remarks and Introductions (Dr. Kellan E. Baker)
  • NIH presentation (Dr. Monica Bertagnolli)
  • Whitman-Walker Presentation (Jonathon Rendina, PhD, MPH)
